PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
AUGUST 11, 2009
Chairman Greg Brown called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m.
Opening prayer led by Deacon Bob Macko.
Attendance:
Present – Greg Brown, Chris Accorsini, Caroline Accorsini, Bobby Woodard, Doug White, Betsy Woodard, Bob Macko, and Pete Johnston.
Excused – Father Kevin Johnson
Absent – Joe Barranco, Suzi Goodhope, and Robynn O’Leary
Visitors – Bud Hoppe
Betsy Woodard motioned for the July 14 meeting minutes be accepted as printed. Caroline Accorsini seconded the motion and the minutes were accepted unanimously.
Committee and Organization Reports:
Finance:
Bob Macko reported there will be another matching funds drive. Up to $25,000 a donor has committed. The drive will run from Labor Day to the church anniversary, approximately 1 ˝ months. Also there will be two checks required to rent the parish hall. One for a deposit for the facilities rented for $325 and the second check for the actual rental.
Christian Education:
CCD and Trinity – CCD classes start on September 13.
JP II High – No report.
Liturgy:
1. Bob Macko stated that in late October St. Louis Church will celebrate its 30th anniversary. Hopefully the Bishop will attend the celebration.
2. Recommitment Weekend will be coming on September 12 and 13.
3. Appreciation dinner will be on September 9, Wednesday evening, in the parish hall. Recommit sign-ups will be available at the dinner as well.
Evangelization:
No report.
Ad Hoc Election:
No report.
Hospitality:
No report.
Knights of Columbus:
Greg Brown stated that the Knights have purchased a buffer for the parish hall floors.
Women’s Guild:
No report.
Youth Group:
Greg Brown reported that the youth group has had a begin-the-year-organizational meeting. Several members went horseback riding last weekend.
Scouts:
Bud Hoppe reported that both Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops are beginning a new year. The Cub Scout pack at St. Louis meets once a month and the individual dens meet twice a month. The cub scouts are recruiting new members at Canopy Oaks Elementary. The Boy Scout troop is supported by the Knights of Columbus 12929. The Boy Scouts are currently seeking a new committee chairperson for their pack.
Old Business:
1. Building Update- Three sections of carpeting have been purchased and binding added to help acoustics in the parish hall.
- Volunteer of the Month – John Breslin
New Business:
1. Bob Macko reported that Deacon Nelson Madera will lead the RCIA program this year. Father Kevin would like for the RCIA program to cover more of the RCIA material and not become an adult education class.
Closing Prayer: Deacon Bob Macko led the council in a closing prayer.
Adjournment: Chairman Greg Brown adjourned the meeting at 8:12 p.m. The next meeting is Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at 7:00 p.m.
